I came across this broadcast today. Thank you for sharing your family story. The letter’s writer would likely have been aware that an invitation to visit the BBC could assist an escape from the impending crisis. Perhaps your grandfather’s friendship with the visitor from London was more than a fortunate coincidence. Both men deserve this listener’s respect.

I wish I could find his sons to thank them – they were called Jonathan and Christopher and are likely to have grown up in the US where their mother took them when she and Ken divorced.
